Sun. we went to a stake musical our stake was putting on , it was "THE GARDEN", by Michael McLean. We were so excited so see that there is strong, talented, faithful members that really live in Philly. It surely set the stage for a thought provoking week before Easter. What a wonderful insight and reflection for Dad and I to remember all the Savior went through and did for mankind. I hope we think about this a lot all week long.
Next Sun. (Easter Sun.) our little branch will be trying to have the choir sing an Easter song, what a contrast all six of us.! The Mother of the branch, Sister Burno announced that she would be singing a solo, can't wait to hear it. She sings monotone bass.
All week we have been trying to get into inactivates. We were able to meet about 4 new ones we hadn't seen before. They are anything but interested-some of the excuses are almost funny. Another thing they like to do is to say they will come out to church and then have no intentions of doing so. One lady has 8 kids, each with a different man, and now has a one month old baby and a new boyfriend staying with her. We dare not ask if they are married or not. The other lady we visited is mentally incompetent. She invited us in, didn't say a word, they went into the other room. Five minutes later she went upstairs, and about 10 minutes later her husband, who was asleep came down. He was pretty nice, but said that although he is a member, he basically doesn't really believe. We are welcome to come back on a Saturday.
On Fri. we did have a contact with a young mother who was so humble. She wants us back today. I sure hope she has the same enthusiasm. All of these people in the branch need the gospel so in their lives, but they never have known life different, and they just don’t know how, or even want to make changes. Even our one promising contact is getting cool feet. This week the elders are painting a room in her house, maybe that will help. They insisted we go with them, which we did, and then sat for 3 hours since we were in our church clothes and waited for them. We got home and dad had 4 big paint spots on his suit, which won't come out.
Our mind has been on Kristine this week. She is heading back to Sand Point, she has a lot of anxiety about returning. Don't know what will happen when she gets there. She did say that Lisa, the lady she had been renting from said she could go back into her home. We'll have to see what happens. Hope she can soon find some stability! Our thoughts have been on John Hall this week as well. He had two stents put in his heart, he got along very well, and is back to the temple by this week end.
This internet we are on back here is real flaky, I've typed about three times this much information and it keeps losing it. We are on our way to the mission office so think I will try again when we get back. Since dad backed into a light pole in a parking lot, we need a new tail light at a garage that fixes all the missionary cars. We are also trying to get some window coolers in order that we can get through the summer. We'll close for now, love ya lots.
